Juretha Fernandes
Councillor
Ms Fernandes had a very successful school life as shown in her amazing performance at CSEC that placed her in the top position for Region 7. With much zeal she continued her academic life moving from sixth form to university and currently pursuing her Masters in Public Administration. After university Juretha decided to return to Bartica to give back to her hometown by being a teacher at the Three Miles Secondary School, where she served for two years. Ms Fernandes is known for her intense debating skills and strong personality. After teaching she landed a job at a private firm as a manager while still managing to care and raise her two children. Juretha is a treasure box filled with experience which came as a result of her involvement in many organizations; namely Youths for Change, Bartica Independent Green Alliance, President’s Youth Award Republic of Guyana, and so on. As a youth activist Ms Fernandes believes that youths should prepare themselves to take up leadership roles in public offices, which she states is an absolute necessity.
Reach for the skies so even if you fall you will land on the stars.
