Mr. Marshall is a true son of the Bartician soil, as he would have started investing in its development even before he was granted the post as Bartica’s first Mayor. Gifford attended the Bartica Secondary School after which he went to the Cyril Potter College of Education to pursue his teaching profession. He then returned to Bartica after 3 years as a Trained Teacher where he taught Technical Studies at the Bartica Secondary School. After 6 years at the Bartica Secondary School he then migrated to the Bahamas to further his profession. After some years Mr. Marshall then re-migrated to Guyana and in 2015 he was appointed as the Chairman of the Bartica Neighborhood Democratic Council. Furthermore, in 2016 he was elected as Mayor of the township of Bartica. Aside from these, Gifford is the Christian Education Leader in the Baptist Convention of Guyana serving his second term. In his younger years he held the position of Youth Leader at both the Wismar and Bartica Baptist Churches and as the leader of the Men’s Fellowship at Bartica Baptist. Leaning more to the cultural side of society’s development he was also involved in the Bartica’s Emancipation Committee. Politically, he is the current Chairman for the PNCR Regional Office for Region 7 Cuyuni Mazaruni. Mr. Marshall is married to his wife and has two beautiful daughters.
