The Monument of Hope

‘The Monument of Hope’, is a gift to the Town from Mr. J. Patrick Sheridan and Guyana Goldfields Incorporated (GGI), with support from the Government and people of Canada, among others. It is located on First Avenue, Bartica. It was unveiled on December 13, 2010. The black marble memorial which was described as “a Symbol of Hope” by Reverend Moss was designed in Canada and built in India. The monument was built in memory of the 12 men who were killed during the Bartica Massacre that occurred on February 17, 2008.
